Let's kick off 2022 with a Boom — the 5th Annual IndieBoom Film + Music Festival!

Short films in all genres and original songs will stream 100% free Jan. 1 -16 on our website, our Roku and Fire TV apps, Vimeo, and Bandcamp. Creators use social media to promote, then we give awards to the titles with the most plays in each category — including cash grand prizes for the most-streamed film and song of the festival. Our Screenplay competition awards writers valuable prizes from our industry partners InkTip, Roadmap Writers, and Virtual Pitchfest.

Please join us in congratulating our 2021/22 Official Selections!

FILMS:

925 Blues Lyric Video
Music Video, USA | Directed by Spring Brooks
"I recorded 925 Blues with my former coworker, Hector Espinoza, back when I worked at Tremor Video in NYC. 925 Blues is about that homesick feeling you get when you have to leave the house and go to work, especially during the cozy season. I know first-hand the challenge of trying to balance work and life. I also know the most mundane tasks can induce creativity. The 925 Blues Lyric Video was created with Powerpoint and iMovie. It was fun to experiment and get creative with office tools. There are gems everywhere."

A Blaster In The Right Hands: A Star Wars Story
Fan Film, Australia | Directed by Richard de Carvalho
On the trail of a crashed Imperial Shuttle, two bounty hunters collide over a valuable cargo, only to discover they’re not the only hired guns around. "A Blaster in The Right Hands - A Star Wars Story", is a non-profit unofficial fan-film that is not intended for commercial use produced by Lunacraft Productions. Star Wars is owned by Lucasfilm/Disney and this fan-film is not connected in any way to said companies.

All We Have
Documentary, USA | Directed by Matt Battaglia
The pandemic lockdowns have taken their toll on mom and pop shops across the country. For Schnitzel Haus in Brooklyn, NY, it’s been a year of mandated closures, reduced capacity, dwindling sales, and more regulations than ever before. The family-owned restaurant struggles to stay open amidst so many hurdles. In the Bay Ridge community where Schnitzel Haus resides, the lockdowns have brought the bustling music scene to a halt, and affected the livelihoods of people in many walks of life. All We Have is the story of a small business in a big city that has been turned upside down by the coronavirus lockdowns.

BioPetz
Comedy, USA| Directed by Tyler Council
“BioPetz” are cuddly, curious abominations of nature and science that need a loving home before the government shuts this whole operation down. Check it out before it’s too late!

Captain Gentle-Man
Comedy, USA | Directed by Mike Begrowicz
Captain Gentle-Man is a vigilante sworn to confront scumbags on dating apps. The Captain’s friend vigilante, The Swimmer, comes to him with horror stories of dating experiences she has experienced. The Captain then catfishes these scum bags through texts to make them vulnerable. Then the Captain and The Swimmer confront him to purge his scumbag ways.

Carnivale
Music Video, USA| Directed by Wikka
Set a few months after her first visual album “Cirque,” Wikka the Clown grieves the loss of her beloved Petunia. After a year of sorrow and solitude, she discovers that her old friend, Charlie the Mime, is still alive - and needs to be saved from the clutches of the evil Ringmaster! Wikka must assemble her team of misfits to defeat him and his band of bloodthirsty villains.

Coyote Tears
Music Video, USA | Directed by Ron Longo, Craig Clement
"When I wrote “Coyote Tears”, I wanted to capture a story of a young man that breaks away from his family in anger after they were torn apart by the recent disgusting political mayhem.  But there are so many reasons this can happen- conflict over life choices, life styles, religious beliefs, etc.   Not all young coyotes stay with the pack…many times there is too much conflict and they must  leave and start a new life on their own."

Elimination Strain
Horror/Thriller, USA | Directed by Christopher Wells
A masked psychopath terrorizes a young couple through eerie text images, then appears inside their home, forcing them to fight for their lives. This is a proof of concept and will become a feature film.

Fountain Axis
Horror/Thriller, USA | Directed by Ali Matlock
Axis Adams attempts to find consolation in an enigmatic park with the help of a mystical new friend, Harmony, as he grapples with a dark secret.

Ghostbusters ReAnimated
Fan Film/Animation, USA| Directed by Steven Shea
Taking place 30 years after Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters ReAnimated follows two Columbia college students and Ghostbuster super fans, who try to change the mind of their unbelieving friend when they manage to score a jar of actual mood slime on Ebay and accidentally unleash something that hasn’t been seen in decades.

I Can Only Sabotage My Self Sabotage
Animation, Experimental Music Video, USA | Directed by Stanzii
"Self Sabotage"  is one of three kaleidoscopic, cyber-chic animated films--part of a triptych that reflects love, loss, and an urgent, post-pandemic need for me: to make art after a time when it felt impossible. Featuring original music produced, mixed and mastered by David Sisko under his Aelien Eko moniker, the triptych also serves as a preview of the upcoming arrival of my sculpture work, slated for next year.

In Defense of Civil Society
Comedy, USA | Directed by Rafeh Mahmud
A (non)Muslim refugee becomes entangled in government-subsidized terrorism!

In The Blink Of An Eye: A James Bond Fan Film
Fan Film/Musical, USA | Directed by Kevin Croxton
In The Blink Of An Eye: A James Bond Fan Film is Parkview Music Club’s tribute to the James Bond Film Series. The music video feels like a classic James Bond film from beginning to end, and follows 007 and his Spy Team on a mission to stop his most notorious adversary from  unleashing a villainous plan to control the world. The film has a special appearance by former 007 actor George Lazenby ( On Her Majesty's Secret Service) . The characters in the film are based on James Bond characters created by Ian Fleming.

Interlude - A Star Trek Fan Production
Fan Film, USA | Directed by Victoria Fox and Joshua Irwin
During the Four Years War between the United Federation and the Klingon Empire--twenty years before the 5-year mission of Captain Kirk -- Fleet Captain Garth and Captain Jakande are on a top secret mission. Without warning, their two star-ships are ambushed by three Klingon battle-cruisers, leaving an important Starfleet dignitary fighting for his life. 2019 IndieBOOM! Winners Announced

Picture
Our 3rd Annual fest has wrapped! As always, we were impressed and delighted by the social media wizardry of our filmmakers, who worked overtime promoting their work. And our audience responded: we streamed over 1,300 hours of video - more than twice as much as last year! Fans couldn't get enough of our incredible shorts in every genre, watching on their phones, computers, and tablets (and our brand-new Roku and Fire TV apps got quite a workout too.) We tallied up viewing stats to determine all our Winners including our Fan Favorite which comes with a $500 prize to help a filmmaker make their next project.

Speaking of our Roku and Fire TV apps, our Winners will continue to stream on them all year... and all our films will continue to be available on our website for as long as the filmmakers want. So if you missed them during the fest, you can still watch them free!

We're proud of everyone who participated, because we know how much of a challenge it is to make great work as an indie creator. And the results speak for themselves. Now, without further ado, the winners of the 2019 IndieBOOM! festival:

The streaming IndieBOOM Festival celebrates its 3rd annual edition with over 50 new films, series and videos from around the world. From Dec. 20 2019 - Jan. 5 2020, viewing stats will be tallied up to determine the winners in each category, including Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Horror, Dance, and Fan Film — which showcases fan-made tributes to icons like Batman and Star Trek. The most-streamed title of the fest wins the Grand Prize of $500 to help an emerging filmmaker create their next project.

A panel of industry pros watched all entries and chose the slate of indies. Each film gets its own custom web page with built-in social media tools, making it easy and fun for viewers to interact. IndieBOOM has also launched all-new Roku and FireTV apps, and can also be watched on AppleTV via Vimeo. Films are always 100% free to watch and are invited to stay on the IndieBOOM site after the festival, giving them more exposure throughout the year.

"IndieBOOM is a unique concept that filmmakers really get," said co-founder Anthony DeVito. "They understand how important self-promotion is in today's industry, and they love that they can use their social media skills to energize and expand their fan base as they compete to win prizes."

All our custom film pages remain on our site indefinitely, so even after the festival dates they continue to get traffic. Last year we streamed over 600 hours of video during the festival dates alone, with over 5,000 unique viewers visiting our site to watch films. Our 2019-20 fest will be even bigger, so get on board!

Calling all creators: IndieBOOM Festival opens its call for entries Monday, July 8. Films, videos and series of 40 minutes or less will be curated by a team of industry professionals for inclusion in the 3rd annual edition, which streams free worldwide — online and on Roku — from December 20, 2019 to January 5, 2020. All genres are welcome: Comedy, Drama, Docs, Horror, Sci Fi, Experimental and even unexpected categories like Dance, Musical, Lip Sync and Fan Films (think Superheroes, Star Wars, Harry Potter and more.)

IndieBOOM lets filmmakers engage their social media skills to get eyes on their work. Every video view counts as a vote, and winners in each category are chosen by total time streamed. The most-watched title of the fest takes home the Fan Favorite award — and a $500 cash prize. Previous winners include Mexico’s Roy Perez Brondo (2017) and Ryan Eakins from the US (2018.) IndieBOOM is produced by the award-winning Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020.

IndieBOOM films stream online and on Roku for as long as filmmakers want. Each film gets its own page with built-in social media links.

Filmmakers have been enthusiastic about the fest, which helps them grow their fan bases as they promote. “Thank you IndieBOOM for selecting our film, Ode To An Urn, for your 2018 Film Festival and thanks to the audience who viewed the film online and made us the winner in Best Drama category,” said US filmmaker Zak Mir. “This festival also gave us the unique opportunity to have exposure via Roku. I would definitely recommend this festival to new and young filmmakers.”

“The ability to join in from anywhere in the world is truly something IndieBOOM made their own. Beyond kind and friendly doesn't just describe the organizers but also the exhibitors, and I feel like I've made some new friends.”— Shaun Kelly (Ireland) “IndieBOOM… and the community that is growing around their festival IS what independent film needs. They are just what the doctor ordered.” — Richard Termini (Australia) “Fantastic festival. A brilliant and unique way to showcase your film, and superb communication.” — April Kelly (UK)

IndieBOOM is a Gold-level festival on the leading online submission platform FilmFreeway. Gold members will save 25% on all entries.
